Association football, otherwise known as soccer, is sometimes described as "the beautiful game".
In the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the competition for third place came down to France v England in a match on 18 July. England won third place and France went home with fourth. Congratulations to both teams on their high finishes among the 48 competing teams.
Coincidentally, Bastille Day, is celebrated on 14 July. Also, the 2026 Tour de France and Wikimania 2026 were held this month in France.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup final game was between Argentina and Spain. Spain won by a score of 1 to 0 in extra time. Again, congratulations to both teams for high finishes among 48 contenders.
Individual award winners were Pau Cubarsí Paredes, Rodrigo Hernández Cascante, and Unai Simón Mendibil.
Wikimania is an annual international conference which this year happened in France.
